HS Music CIC

HS Music CIC is a community interest company dedicated to making music accessible to everyone — children, young people, adults, and older people across our community.

Our story

HS Music CIC was founded with a simple but powerful belief: music belongs to everyone. We set out to remove the barriers — financial, social, and practical — that so often keep people from experiencing the joy and wellbeing that music brings.

Based at Prestwood Creative Hub in the heart of Buckinghamshire, we have grown from a small local initiative into a thriving community music organisation, delivering lessons, group sessions, and outreach programmes to people of all ages and backgrounds.

Little Strummers, our children's music school, is our flagship programme — but our work extends far beyond it. From supporting older people living with dementia to providing subsidised lessons for students in financial hardship, we are committed to music for all.

Our mission

We exist to provide group and individual music services to all areas of the community — and to ensure that no one is excluded because of age, ability, or circumstance.

Inclusive by design

We welcome children, young people, adults, and older people — including those living with dementia. All instruments and materials are provided.

Wellbeing through music

We provide education, companionship, social connectedness, and a sense of purpose through positive musical activities that enhance emotional wellbeing and resilience.

No one left behind

We offer individual and shared lessons to students in circumstances of hardship that would otherwise preclude the opportunity to learn.

Community rooted

Everything we do is grounded in our local community, delivered from Prestwood Creative Hub and in schools across Buckinghamshire.

What we do

Our programmes span every stage of life and every corner of the community.

Children's music lessons

Through Little Strummers, we deliver guitar, ukulele, singing, and piano lessons to children in Prestwood and in schools across the area. Group and individual lessons available.

Home education music

Dedicated sessions for home-educated children, giving them access to structured music tuition and the social benefits of group learning.

Community outreach

We take music into the wider community — including sessions for older people, those living with dementia, and adults who have never had the chance to learn.

Hardship bursaries

We provide subsidised and free lessons to students whose financial circumstances would otherwise prevent them from participating. No child should miss out.

In-school programmes

We work directly with local schools to deliver curriculum-linked music education, bringing live instruments and experienced tutors into the classroom.

Prestwood Creative Hub

Most of our work is delivered from Prestwood Creative Hub — a vibrant community space in Prestwood, Buckinghamshire. The Hub brings together creative organisations and community groups under one roof, and is central to everything we do.

Partners & supporters

We are grateful to the organisations and individuals who support our work and help us reach more people across the community.

Prestwood Creative Hub

Our home base and key community partner, providing the space and infrastructure that makes our work possible.

Local schools

We work with primary and secondary schools across Buckinghamshire to deliver in-school music programmes.
